PelicanCorp welcomes new Sales Director to the EMEA region

We are pleased to announce Jan-Willem Nijman has joined the PelicanCorp team in the role of Sales Director for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. In an exciting venture to further the PelicanCorp global expansion, Jan-Willem will assume overall responsibility for managing the EMEA market and developing the offering to suit the emerging market needs.

Jan-Willem joins the business with more than 30 years of sales and channel management experience within several vertical industry segments, such as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Process Industry and Infrastructure. He most recently held the role of Vice President Industry Netherlands at Schneider Electric. Before Schneider, Jan-Willem worked for Citect responsible for the European Business.

DBYD Australia visits New Zealand

PelicanCorp NZ Ltd recently hosted NSW/ACT Dial Before You Dig board members whom were on a fact finding mission to see how the industry operates within NZ. Electrix Ltd whom are the maintenance contractor for Vector Gas were kind enough to demonstrate the catastrophe that may occur should a damaged medium pressure gas pipe ignite. The resulting ignition saw flames shooting out the side of the pipe for up to 5 metres, anyone within the proximity would have experienced severe burns.

One of our ongoing commitments to our Members is to organise regular meetings with our beforeUdig service Members.
During September we ran seminars; on topics that covered 1) new market initiatives in ticket automation; 2) permitting processes and 3) works co-ordination. This was a great opportunity to discuss the Members suggestions and feedback on the service with other users and key PelicanCorp staff.
We are aiming at running such meetings twice a year and our next beforeUdig Member Conference will take place in March 2016. The email will be sent out with more details regarding our upcoming member meetup closer to the date.

PelicanCorp customer wins 2016 GITA ANZ DBYD High Performance Award!

For the past 10 years, The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) have been awarding the Dial Before You Dig High Performance Award to recognise high performance results by member companies to DBYD enquiries.

Introduced in 2007, the award is made on the basis of results from a competition conducted anonymously by GITA which compares the responses of a member company to a set of enquiries.

The PelicanCorp TicketAccess automation solution has been paramount in providing high quality and quick speed responses to DBYD enquiries, and during it’s time 7 of the GITA High Performance Award winners have been utilising TicketAccess.

These responses are judged on the basis of speed of response, quality of response, availability, accuracy and quality of material provided to the enquirer. The assessment involved DBYD responses from companies that are GITA members and also part of the national DBYD system (which includes most of the major utilities in Australia).

A big congratulations to this year’s winner Unity Water, and to runners up - Western Power and ActewAGL, also both users of the PelicanCorp solution.

Unitywater wins 2016 annual DBYD award with PelicanCorp

Following establishment on 1 July 2010, Unitywater was faced with the challenge of manually responding to around 100 Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) enquiries per day.

As members of the national DBYD service Unitywater opted for PelicanCorp’s TicketAccess solution, providing them with the single automated platform to manage the process of responding to requests.

Unitywater have efficiently automated their DBYD response service through the use of TicketAccess. It was awarded winners of the prestigious 2016 GITA ANZ DBYD High Performance Award for their speed, accuracy and quality of responses to all DBYD enquiries.

LinesearchbeforeUdig takes home the 2016 NJUG Award

LinesearchbeforeUdig (LSBUD), the UK’s free to use online search service, powered by PelicanCorp's OneCallAccess product, and provides utility asset information, have been awarded the 2016 NJUG ‘Avoiding Damage to Underground Assets’ Award at the prestigious National Joint Utilities Group (NJUG) event held on the 16th November at the House of Commons.

The award category called for organisations who are taking all reasonable steps to ensure damage to underground assets is avoided. The LSBUD submission “Increasing the accessibility and visibility of buried services through a single portal” highlighted the free to use online portal that allows any individual to check their site for the location of assets owned by over 50 members. The service helps prevent damage and disruption to the UK pipe and cable networks, processing over 1.6 million enquiries per annum. The LinesearchbeforeUdig service fully supports and demonstrates the ‘NJUG Vision for Street Works’, providing excellence in the delivery of street works.
